Hello Heather and Paul-
Our pup (you called him Jasper) is coming up on his one-year birthday on October 21st. i just wanted to take the time to tell you how happy I am with my dog. He has been an absolute dream to train. People that see him are impressed with his obedience and I owe it all to your selective breeding program. We ended up naming him "Alaska's Yukon Moose" but we just call him "Moose". I thought that was perfect being that Charlie is an Alaska bear-hunter by profession, and the pup's sire was named Alaska. He is absolutely gorgeous and everyone that interacts with him loves him. We are getting ready to take him to Lake Havasu, Arizona for a vacation in a few days - he has become quite a traveller. He loves the water (I think he is part fish!) and I must be careful or he will get in the shower with me in the morning....he just jumps right in! Charlie has been training him at our ranch here in California and he has the smarts to keep up with the dogs that have been doing it for years. If I had room in my yard, I'd be on the waiting list for another dog from this year's Maya/Alaska cross. As you can see in the picture, we have quite the Brady Bunch of dogs - one big furry Aussie, one slick Rhodesian Ridgeback, and one Black Lab but they are all so happy together. Thanks again for such a great dog!
Sincerely,
Zenobia (and Charlie too!)

Hi Heather,
The girls are doing great! They are such a joy. Not that we are biased, but we really believe they are the smartest and best behaved "kids" we have ever had. They have never gotten into any major trouble (chewing anything in the house, having "accidents" in the house except when they were not feeling good, etc.). We have wondered if this extraordinary intelligence could be a result of their parents being young when they were born.
Maddy still goes to agility school. She is doing great and she just loves it and her friends there, even though she does still get car sick, so she has to take a half a Dramamine for every trip (our Vet recommended this, even though we might try tincture of ginger instead and see how that works). She has a really sensitive stomache, and it took alot of experimenting to find the right food for her.
Cissy is the one who was eating too much, but that has been cured, and even though we have not weighed her lately, we think she has shed a few of her "pudgy" pounds. We still (sort of) free feed. They are fed in the morning and in the evening. Cissy eats all of hers right away each time. Maddy will sometimes eat some or all right away, but most of the time she will leave it for during the day, and Cissy never touches Maddy's bowl.
Maddy takes after her mother, being slight in build and weighing over ten pounds less than Cissy, and she, too, has the greatest smile, like you mentioned her mother has. Cissy takes after her dad, is big (she was over sixty pounds), and is not nearly as agile and light-footed as Maddy, but she, too, does really good with the agility school "homework" -- Maddy does her homework, and then Cissy goes through some of the same exercises -- mainly for treats.
All in all, we could not be happier with our girls. Attached are three pictures of them, one of each of them and one of the two together.

Hello-
I just wanted to touch base with you all and let you  know how our little girl Friday is doing on her her 1 year birthday.  We are loving this incredible girl so much.
She has the most amazing disposition.  She is so loving, smart, funny, playful and calm.  Everyone in our house has fallen in love with her.  I do believe she thinks as herself as a Kelly, but just furrier. In fact even people outside our family have really taken to her.  My sister wanted to take her home with her.  Of course we said NO.
She is so smart, by far the smartest Aussie I have ever owned.  I can teach her any trick within a few minutes and she'll have it.  She sits, stays, lays down, speaks, dances, jumps up, gets in the car, goes outside, all on command.
She is is on the smaller size for an Aussie (about 37 pounds) but she is an Aussie to the core in her manners.  She has been easy to train and puppyhood was a breeze.  Her coat is smooth, long, shiny blue black and super silky, very beautiful!  She looks a lot like her mom but a black-tri.
Our older Aussie Maggie has really bonded to her and Friday has pepped her up a bit ( as much as you can pep up a 15 year old dog).
We hope all is well for you and your family!
Love,
The Kelly Family

Hello Heather,

I am more than happy to share pictures of Soma with you. She has grown into a beautiful dog. People are amazed by how gorgeous she is.

Soma has an amazing temperament. She's very playful, has lots of energy and is incredibly smart. She finds new of communicating with me that are just amazing. She's head-strong at times but never, ever vicious. She loves to nap on the sofa next to me and is notorious for stealing my favorite pillow. Wherever I am in the house, she is next to me. She makes me laugh all of the time, she has great expressions and is just full of joy.

She's very social, loves people and gets along well with other dogs.

She's tall and weighs 50lbs now. Her coat is smooth and silky. I think she looks a lot like her Daddy, what do you think?

I think about how lucky I am to have found this wonderful companion and I have you to thank for her (and Jim of course). I love her so much.

I've attached a few photos here. I'll get you some more soon. Sometimes it's hard to get her to stay still that long :)
All my best to you,
Heather

Hi Heather, Navy is a great Aussie with a very calm temperament. Loves all other dogs and is very fond of kids. He will play with kids on the beach all day long. His weight is about 40# and his agility is incredible. He's a great swimmer we spend a lot of time at Catalina island and has adapted great to a boat since 8 weeks old. The first 2 photos are at 5 months old. the ladder are at 1 year. I am very happy with Navy and will recommend you to all. Thanks Randy

Hi Heather,
Thanks for contacting me. I was actually thinking it’s time I sent you some recent pics and an update on Champ.:) He has grown into a big, beautiful boy – a fine cross of Alaska and Ruby. J He is still learning not to get into things (he loves stealing food from our kitchen counter) but otherwise very bright and a joy to have as part of our family. My camera just ran out of battery but I will send you some fun photos I took a few weeks ago – I just had to try something on Champ, and he indulged me. J
This is just for fun – I’ll send better pics next week.

God bless! marjie

Penny ALL grown up :)
Hi Heather,

John and Kelly here. Just an update on Hughie, he is all finished with his shots and is definitely keeping us busy so we are really sorry for the late update. He is so well mannered and well tempered (he has his moments but who doesn't?). People have literally got out of their cars to come pet him and ask what type of dog he is while we take him on walks and he is the center of attention by other dog owners at the dog park here in town.

We recently took him to visit my sister who has 4 labs for a playdate and I have 2 small nieces, one who is about 2.5 and a ball of energy, he couldn't have been a better behaved dog with her, she was laying on him, rolling around with him and taking him on her own little walks with his collar. It was unbelievable. He was incredible with her, just followed her around and let her play with him, he didnt show fear or anger once. My sister is also a photographer, attached are a couple pictures. These are from last Monday...so he is even bigger now. We're looking into purchasing a bigger house, another aussie is definitely in our sites.

Thank you so much!

Kelly and John

Just a little note to share how fantastic Indiana is doing!  I can't believe they turned 1 this week.  A few things about Indy, he requires cuddle time EVERY morning.  He is so gentle and really snuggles.  I think he believes he's still small.  He's grown into a BIG young man, weighing in at about 60+ pounds.  We get out almost every day to have some fun outside.  He loves going on walks with other dogs.  He's also very social.  Saying hello to everyone of every size.

On a more serious note, he defended our home to some would be robbers a few weeks ago when we were out to dinner!  Never underestimate the power of an alarm AND a dog.

Lots of love to the family that helped complete our family, The Ackerman's Chris, Casey, Avery & Indiana

I meant to send these earlier, but here are a couple of recent pictures of Bubbles. We are so in love with her (when she is not eating our shoes, or the house). She is very smart and is learning commands very well although she thinks she's a lap dog. We will send you some more pictures and another update soon.

Hi Heather,
Just took some new photos today and wanted to send you some. Pearl weighs close to 30 lbs already and Captain is right behind her! We just had our 4th set of shots and they are still continuing classes with a dog trainer. They are doing very well and have the run of the house now and have navigated the two dog doors to get outside. Mike actually had some passerby argue with him that they couldn't be Aussies because they were too big! We just got their registration papers as well, Arriola's Pearl of the Sea and Arriola's Spicy Captain Morgan. I know it won't matter much since we will be neutering them soon but like you said, it keeps records of the lines. Anyway, hope you and the dogs are well.
Take care,
Mike Arriola and Gina Sulmeyer

Hi Heather and Paul,
Hope all is well with you guys and your family!

Skyler is 10 months old... and 63 pounds... yikes!  We took him to a herding class in Malibu and these are some of the photos from his Instinct Test.  In the words of the judge, he "ace'd the test"!  He went right to work, flanking both directions and keeping his sheep together.  He showed a lot of natural talent and ability.  It was awesome to watch our puppy have so much fun.  He didn't want to leave the ring!  Alaska and Vivi would have been very proud.

All the best,
Michael and Janet

Hi Heather and Paul,

It has been a while since we wrote and sent some pictures. Our boy is almost 1-1/2 and right in the middle of his adolescence. Smart, playful, loving, full of energy... and stubborn, determined, and very excitable. We have amazing times together. He gets to play with other dogs a lot and is always respectful, happy, and usually the life of the party. He goes to daycare every so often and, without fail, always becomes one of the favorites... and, of course, he's the only dog that won't take a nap. Great with kids, affectionate with strangers...
everyone loves Skyler.
He really enjoys getting wet and playing in the water, though he won't go in the swimming pool on his own... so we bought him a plastic kiddie pool that he runs and jumps into, spins around, and plops himself down to cool off.  We've done many sessions of obedience training and took him sheepherding for a couple of months. He also started agility classes and, while learning the tricks was no problem, frankly, he got so excited by all the activity that it was too much for him to handle. We'll probably wait until he gets a little older to give it another try.
Did I tell you how smart he is?! Sometimes, I swear, he understands English. I love how he cocks his head to the side and opens those big eyes trying to understand everything we're saying. He's a big, solid boy -- about 67 pounds yet muscular and lean.

And everyone always stops us to complement his beautiful eyes and coloring!

Hope all is well with you guys. Enjoy the pictures!

Regards,
Michael and Janet
